George Mitchell, Bud Selig, AP are Yankees' Daddies for life: Pettitte still being bashed on Yankees.com (an MLB.com site)

With all the unanswered questions of the so-called Mitchell Report--including Mitchell's claim he never heard about Paul Byrd's talk with the commissioner about his own dealings in criminal drug use to the tune of $25,000, today wins the prize. A Yankee fan clicks on to Yankees.com on Feb. 28, 2008 and sees a big picture of Andy Pettitte sitting alone in a dugout. There is a one sentence caption attributed to the AP--I guess this means it's news, saying "Andy Pettitte admitted to using HGH" etc., (twice in 2002 on the DL, 2 shots from his father in one day in 2004). No kidding?
I had gone to the site to find out about an upcoming game, but seeing such a caption under such a picture at this point in time caused me to leave the site without the information I'd sought. There's no point in being a Yankee fan. They can't even control their own website. Continuing propaganda over practically nothing about Andy Pettitte, completely inappropriate, pleases a certain group of people. These people are not getting my money. (Cleverly, the caption would not link).

Myth of Goose Gossage "Durability"

Gossage's alleged "durability" vanished (over the fence) in key post season and all star opportunities--when it mattered most.
  • Links:
  • 5. He did figure positively in one All Star game decision with a save, 7/10/84, NL over AL. Score was 3-1 when he entered top 9th, and that was the final score. In 3 of the years he was an All Star he did not pitch, 1976, 1981, and 1982. In other years not listed above, his appearances weren't in high stakes situations.
  • 17. Gossage's alleged durability is a myth when compared to Mariano Rivera's. Gossage must've worn himself out in the regular season, because he lacked the "durability" or "mentality" of the best closer--who has done it in 13 consecutive post seasons along with a number of all stars. Gossage had more flops than durabilty in post season and all star--when it mattered most. Also, in Rivera's 76 post season games, he averages 1.54 IP/appearance. If that's the same as only 1 inning, how come everyone doesn't do it?
Gossage speaks of how mind-blowing it was being a Yankee. Perhaps in part that explains his incessant, low-class campaign against the great Rivera. But doesn't excuse it--no matter how painful it is for him.

Another item from the last days of baseball--stolen from the people like everything else in the US

"The New York faithful rose to their feet as Pettitte concluded his BP session and embraced him with the loudest applause any pitcher received en route to the Yankees' dugout." (MLB.com, 2/25/08)
  • Selig, Mitchell, DuPuy, and MLB.com--I'm glad you're all so out of touch you think any person with half a brain believes one word you say. You can include apparatchik Dawn Klemish who put out your spin from MLB.com--as if any fan could be "angry" with Pettitte.
  • With you people so insulated from reality, the nightmare of baseball in America will be over sooner rather than later.
Your xerox of an IRS report which you called YOUR "report"--which earned you millions--in the case of Pettitte totally mischaracterized what he did. The joke of the century is that fans might be "angry" at Andy. NOT A CHANCE. FANS ARE ANGRY AT YOU PHONIES AT MLB. Andy did nothing, PAUL BYRD DID MUCH WORSE AND YOU SAY NOTHING ABOUT HIM.

MEDIA PARASITES BELIEVE PETTITTE OWES THEM FAME & FORTUNE

  • 'LONG INTERVIEW SESSION' WITH BASEBALL MEDIA? SO THEY CAN GET ON TV--THE MEDIA GUYS. NOTHING LIKE THE CONGRESS GUYS WHO WANTED TO GET ON TV. LONG INTERVIEW ABOUT WHAT? THE FACT THAT THE YANKEES ARE AN ORGANIZATION OF PATSIES AND SITTING DUCKS WHO IF THEY HAD HALF A CLUE WOULDN'T HAVE ALLOWED THE SO-CALLED MITCHELL REPORT TO BE PRESENTED THE WAY IT WAS TO BEGIN WITH? A GIANT PUBLICITY STUNT THAT HAS RUINED THE LIVES OF MANY PEOPLE. BUT THAT'S NOT NEARLY ENOUGH, OBVIOUSLY, FOR PEOPLE LIKE JACK CURRY.
Jack Curry, NY Times: "If Pettitte has to answer questions all season about his entanglement with Clemens and Brian McNamee, their former personal trainer, Pettitte will not “be able to do his job properly,” Mussina said.

He added that

Quote from NY Times article by Jack Curry, "Pettitte is now Working on His Damage Control,"
2/15/08
  • 'HOPE' the scrutiny subsides? ANDY, SAY NOT ONE WORD TO ANY OF THESE PEOPLE. FOR STARTERS, THIS SOUNDS LIKE BLACKMAIL, IE IF YOU GIVE ME SOMETHING NOW, MAYBE I'LL BE NICE TO YOU IN THE FUTURE, BUT NO GUARANTEES OF COURSE.
  • I PERSONALLY HOPE PETTITTE QUITS, NEVER PITCHES AGAIN, AND THE YANKEES HAVE A POOR SEASON. WHY? BECAUSE IT WON'T BE AS REWARDING FOR THE MEDIA.
