Bob Nightengale silent as Mariano Rivera PICKS UP 2 SAVES IN 1 DAY FOR 5TH TIME

"(Mariano) Rivera saved two games in one day for the fifth time in his major league career, according to the Elias Sports Bureau, the first since Sept. 29, 2004, against Minnesota."
  • This has got to be a bitter, tragic day for Minnesota's Bob Nightengale. The meaning of life for him is the "total save" stat--bother him not about the many details that contribute to it.
BUT TO HAVE THE YANKEE CLOSER GET 2 SAVES IN 1 DAY, BRINGING HIS TOTAL SAVES STAT FOR 2 SAVES IN 1 DAY TO A TOTAL OF 5 (GET ALL THOSE 'TOTALS?') with the brutal coup de gras:
  • THE LAST 2 SAVES IN 1 DAY BY MARIANO RIVERA WAS AGAINST (gasp) THE MINNESOTA TWINS ON SEPT. 29, 2004. Poor Bob.
