AP cracking down with new rules--Ebert

""The crowning blow came this week when the once-magisterial Associated Press imposed a 500-word limit on all of its entertainment writers," writes Roger Ebert.
Affairs, divorces, addiction, disease, success, failure, death watches, tirades, arrests, hissy fits, scandals, who has been 'seen with' somebody, who has been 'spotted with' somebody,

Media Bias, Malpractice, well embedded and will continue

(Canada Free Press, Harvey): "Journalistic Malpractice. Shouldn’t that be a crime? I think so. I ran across a video of which I took the audio and saved it just in case some Obamatard whines to the point that the video gets removed. The audio is stored right here. Another video that I have the audio segments to is stored in two places, one being the full audio complete with Howard Stern “isms” and the other is filtered out and stored here. Both videos can be viewed here for the time being. If that won’t load for you, feel free to go here or here.

What the videos and audio segments reveal is what we already have known for quite some time. The American News Media has lost its way and can no longer report the news as their own ethics creed requires them to. They have betrayed the trust that the American People once held them in high esteem for.

In the videos and audio segments, you will see and/or hear the most ignorant people in the known universe describing their political prowess. From my personal evaluation, I have determined that these people are so dumb and/or ignorant that a cargo ship loaded with crates of turtle turds has more political prowess than these interviewees. Not knowing who or what you are voting for is tantamount to serious mental deficiencies.

Who, however, is to “blame” for this? Logically, it is the individual’s fault for not being informed. However, they have been swindled into believing that the National News Media is properly informing them. Where in the world did they get that from?
We have quite a bit of work before us people and at times I wonder if we are up to the task. What will we do when the going gets tough? What will we do when ridiculed and scoffed upon? As for myself, I press onward with more and more energy and determination. How about you?
  • Are you up to the task take our country back from the Marxist socialists or is it too hard?
  • Are you willing to hit the streets?
  • Are you willing to set aside the video games?
  • Are you willing to turn the television off?
I have learned quite a bit from my ventures out onto the various theoretical facilities of Higher Learning we call colleges and universities. I have learned that the students are not taught critical thinking nor are they instructed in ethics or thinking for themselves. They most certainly are not taught American Politics. I ran across so many that could not tell you which political party was in “control” and if they did tell me what they thought, it was wrong. Several told me that
  • they were voting democrat because those republicans Pelosi, Reid and Murtha were screwing the country up. I wonder where they learned the wrong things from.
Some told me that their “teachers” did. I was shocked, truly. When I proved to them that they were “ill-informed”, it was their turn to be shocked. Quite a few of them said they get their information from the “media”. I told them that exposing the Lame Stream Media was “Rather” fun back on 7 JUL 2007. They looked at me curiously so I showed them that post. More shock waves were formed.

If there is any doubt whatsoever, I suggest that you read, study, memorize, save, print and distribute the List of 45. And then, buy the book The Naked Communist. Only then will you be able to understand that which we face as a Nation. Wake Up People."

Media access via George Soros funding

"Thanks in part to funding from benefactors such as billionaire George Soros, the Center for American Progress has become in just five years an intellectual wellspring for Democratic policy proposals, including many that are shaping the agenda of the new Obama administration.
CAP, which has 180 staffers and a $27 million budget, devotes as much as half of its resources to promoting its ideas through
  • blogs, events, publications and media outreach....
The center's policy briefings are standing-room only,
  • advocacy-group representatives and reporters
looking for insights on where the Obama administration is headed."

The very public collapse of the so-called journalism field

'Post Journalism'--
  • "We have seen it all the last two years:
  • Weeping journalists on election night; a journalist openly promising to help make Obama successful ("Yeah, it is my job.");
  • film takes of journalists cheering an Obama speech;
  • the savaging of Sarah Palin and the hands-off treatment of Biden;
  • soft-ball interviews and long puff-pieces on Obama as the young cool crusader;
  • comparisons to JFK's Camelot, and on and on.
In the 3rd book of his history, Thucydides has some insightful thoughts about destroying institutions in times of zealotry—and then regretting their absence when there is a need for refuge for them. The mainstream press should have learned that lesson, once they blew up their credibility in the past election by morphing into the Team Obama press agency.
  • There will come a time in the year ahead when either Obama's unexamined past will come back to haunt him, or his inexperience and tentativeness in foreign affairs will be embarrassingly apparent, or his European-socialist agenda for domestic programs simply won't work. And as public opinion falls, what will MSNBC, the New York Times, the editors of Newsweek, a Chris Matthews or the anchors at the major networks say?
Not much—since they will have one of two non-choices: (1) either they will begin scrambling to offer supposed disinterested criticism, which will be met with the public's, "Why should we begin believing you now?" or "Why didn't you tell this before?", or (2), They can continue as state-sanctioned megaphones of the Obama administration in the manner that they did during the campaign. They will lose either way and remain without credibility.
Exactly the same in baseball media. Which is why media obviously must be removed from post season baseball awards. (sm)

Current world cash crisis caused by globalization--notes rise of the right after 1930's depression

(Al Gore global carbon trading deals may be next). On the worldwide financial crisis: "This is the dramatic equivalent of the collapse of the Soviet Union:
  • we now know that an era has ended," said Mr. (Eric) Hobsbawm, still lucid at 91.

"It is certainly greatest crisis of capitalism since the 1930s. As Marx and Schumpeter foresaw,

  • but is incredibly unstable. It operates through a series of crises....

At some point, Europe's political class will face the awful truth that their own credit bubbles are just as bad – and perhaps worse – than the excesses of US sub-prime property. As that occurs,

Professor Hobsbawm, who spent his youth watching Hitler's rise in Berlin, has a warning for those

  • who think this will help the Left in any recognizable form.

America was the great exception,

  • as it may prove to be again.

I (Hobsbawm) for one will take the enlightened "socialism" of Barack Obama any day over the

  • Hegelian broth nearing the boil in Europe."
